Grave Calculations - Locating Cemeteries with GPS

Tuesday July 8, 2003
My family has recently become interested in the sport of geocaching, a form of high-tech treasure hunting which uses a set of cryptic directions and a GPS to find a hidden "cache," ranging from a box of trinkets to an interesting location. The sport particularly interests me because many geocaching adventures actually take you to various cemeteries. One in northern Massachusetts titled Grave Calculations, even requires a visit to several headstones to gather key dates needed to calculate the coordinates of the nearby cache. Even if you're not interested in geocaching, you too can learn how to locate a cemetery using GPS.
