2nd International Conference on Genetic Genealogy

Monday October 31, 2005
The second annual conference sponsored by Family Tree DNA for its Surname Project Administrators will be held November 4-5, 2005 at the headquarters of the National Geographic Society in Washington D.C. The two-day event will feature leading experts in the field making presentations on a variety of topics related to the use of DNA for family history and deep ancestral origins.

The choice of the NGS headquarters to host this year’s Conference reflects Family Tree DNA’s participation as the testing outfit for public input in the Genographic Project, a 5-year research partnership between National Geographic and IBM to study human migratory history.

Among other speakers, population geneticist, Spencer Wells, author of “The Journey of Man”, National Geographic Explorer in Residence and Project Director of the Genographic Project will be talking to conference participants about this project, its goals, and how the genealogical community can participate.

The Conference on Genetic Genealogy for Surname Project Administrators is open to genealogists from all over the world who currently manage Surname Projects at Family Tree DNA and want to learn more about the advances of DNA testing for Genealogy and Anthropology.
