Explore Historic U.S. Records at Footnote.com
Friday June 1, 2007
Plenty of people have been buzzing about Footnote.com over the past few months, and with good reason. The site is slick, with a user-friendly image viewer and plenty of free tools and features that help researchers easily collaborate with one another. Best of all, however, are the digital documents -- of Revolutionary War pension records, Civil War service records, state naturalization records, and less usual genealogical records such as the case files of the FBI. When the site first launched, I wasn't able to find an awful lot of interest, but they've been adding documents at an rapid rate and over the past few months I've found myself turning to the site for my research more and more. Although it's a subscription-based site, Footnote.com is quickly becoming a bargain for anyone with early U.S. ancestors.
