Family Tree of J.K. Rowling

Sunday July 22, 2007
There is a Harry in her family tree... J.K. Rowling's great-grandfather's name is Frank "Harry" Rowling on his birth certificate. But while J.K. Rowling says that she chose the name Harry because it is her "favourite boy's name," there are other names in the Harry Potter series taken from her family tree, including Stan Shunpike and Ernie Prang of the Knight Bus are named in honor of her grandfathers, Stanley Volant and Ernie Rowling.

J.K. Rowling's family tree also includes ancestors of English, Scottish and French descent. There's a blacksmith, a house painter, a gardener, a bricklayer, and a foreman at a water works. It's an interesting collection of ancestors that resulted in J.K. Rowling!
