It's Scary Being It...

By October 17, 2008

Follow me on:

When I played tag as a child, I always hated being IT, scared I guess that I would never be able to tag anyone and would be "it" forever.... Or, even worse, that no one would ever pick me to play at all.

But genealogy bloggers (specifically Bruce Buzbee who keeps picking on me!, Carol Wilkerson at iPentimento who tagged my Facebook page and Randy Seaver at GeneaMusings who started this game of tag) are determined to break me out of my shell. So, here goes:

10 Years Ago I Ö
1. Was pregnant with my second child
2. Cried as my oldest daughter (now a sophomore in high school) got on the bus for her first day of Kindergarten
3. Lived in the same house I do now (although it was a lot less cluttered)
4. Revisited my family genealogy not knowing the change in job direction it would soon inspire!
5. Was a lot less busy than I am now

Five Things on Todayís To-Do List
1. Finish a new article for About Genealogy
2. Update the Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society Web site
3. Continue working feverishly on a big client project
4. Take my two daughters to gymnastics and my son to taekwondo
5. Go home and work some more!

Five snacks I enjoy
1. Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey ice cream
2. Popcorn
3. Red peppers with hummus dip
4. Pistachios
5. Trail mix

Five Places Iíve Lived
1. McDonald, Pennsylvania (Go Steelers!)
2. Lexington, South Carolina
3. Stanardsville, Virginia (on top of a mountain)
4. Kinston, North Carolina (while my Dad was in Vietnam)
5. Virginia Beach, Virginia

...while I've lived in the Pittsburgh area for over 20 years, I still eat grits and consider myself a Southern girl!

Five Jobs Iíve Had
1. Wife and mother (always my favorite!)
2. Professional genealogist
3. Web Designer
4. Sommelier assistant and waitress at a French restaurant
5. Robot builder (NavLab 2...they are now up to version 11)

Five Blogs I Tag
1. Megan Smolenyak at Megan's Roots World (One of my very first genie friends)
2. Juliana Smith at 24/7 Family History Circle (I've been a huge fan of her writing for years)
3. Amy Johnson Crow from Amy's Genealogy, etc. Blog (I especially love her Tombstone Tuesday posts...as I'm the type to stop at every cemetery I see)
4. Diane Richard and Phyllis Matthews Ziller at the NGS 2009 Conference Blog (I have deep family roots in North Carolina and appreciate any opportunity to visit the State Archives in Raleigh for more research)
5. Midwestern Microhistory by Harold Henderson (a new blog I just discovered)
