Because I'm attending Samford's Institute of Genealogy & Historical Research (IGHR) next week, I couldn't also swing a trip to California for the popular Southern California Genealogical Society Jamboree, being held June 8 - 10, 2012, at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank. That doesn't mean I have to miss it entirely, however, because the organizers have announced that ten Jamboree sessions will be broadcast live on the Internet. "In keeping with SCGS's tradition of delivering exceptional genealogical education over the Internet, we are proud to announce that the 2012 Genealogy Jamboree will offer ten streamed sessions over two days, Saturday and Sunday, June 9 and 10."
For details on the sessions available and registration information see Jamboree Streamed Sessions Announced on the Jamboree blog. There will be a limited number of viewing seats available for each of these live sessions, so you'll want to register early. These ten streamed presentations are provided at no cost to participants, but donations to the society to help offset the expense of bandwidth, speaker honorarium, equipment, etc. are welcome.
In addition to these live, streamed sessions, the SCGS Jamboree also offers twice-monthly educational webinars through their SCGS Jamboree Extension Series. Attendance at the live webinar is free, and each webinar is also archived and made available online for SCGS members.
