Genealogy as American as Baseball & Shopping
Thursday July 22, 2004
Genealogy has become so popular with the mainstream American, that it is being included along with baseball and shopping as a planned activity for delegates and journalists covering the Republican National Convention. The host committee is planning themed days to give the 5,000 delegates and 15,000 journalists arriving in NYC to cover the convention at Madison Square Garden from Aug. 30 to Sept. 2 something to do when they are not working. Along with a genealogy tracing session at Ellis Island, some of the other offerings include batting practice with the New York Mets, private shopping trips to Cartier, and a concert by the Gatlin Brothers in Central Park.
