Most genealogists, historians and Civil War buffs have visited the free online database of the Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System. What you may not know is that the computerized database is now complete, according to this weeks announcement by the National Park Service.

The Civil War Soliders & Sailors System, which was first started in 1993, was recently completed with the addition of the final soldier names from Pennsylvania and Virginia, bringing the total included service records to 6.3 million. According to the press release, a new alliance with National Geographic will also enhance the future of the system.
