1911 Canadian Census Now Online
Friday July 22, 2005
After years of legal wrangling by genealogists and historians, the 1911 Canadian census is finally available for viewing. Digitized images of the 1911 census are now online at ArchiviaNet, the research tool of Library and Archives Canada. The images are only searchable by location, however, and not by name.

I give up - what good is search by LOCATION and not by SURNAME? If I want to search for a SURNAME in Quebec, it would be a life long work.
It is your typical waste of tax dollars by a bunch of out-of-touch civil servants. Fortunately volunteers will likley come to the rescue to index the 1911 census so that we will not have to subscribe to the bandit genealogy firms.
