Searching in a Foreign Language
Monday May 15, 2006
According to Internet World Stats, only about 30 percent of Internet users consider English as their primary language, while languages such as French, Spanish, Chinese and Russian are rapidly gaining in Internet use. This means millions of new genealogy Web sites and research opportunities just waiting to be explored! To locate these genealogy records, however, most ancestral "surfers" will find the need to delve into foreign language search engines. While not as universal as Google, "foreign" search engines offer an untapped gold mine of family histories, transcribed records, vital records databases and other records of interest to genealogists.
