13th Carnival of Genealogy - Genealogy Bloopers

Monday December 4, 2006
Let's face it - we've all made mistakes when researching family history. I know I sure have! First it was learning how to spell genealogy correctly and then learning the hard way to document my research (I've had to re-do big chunks of my research for that little misstep!). I've also gotten a bit mixed up tracing men with the same name and neglected to look up obvious records. Worst of all, however, was learning that my paternal grandfather was a WWII veteran at his memorial service. I knew he had fought in Korea, and somehow overlooked that my career Marines grandfather who is buried at Arlington also served during World War II. I still beat myself up for overlooking the obvious and not asking the right questions while he was still alive to share his stories!

In the theme of genealogy bloopers and mistakes, the 13th edition of the Carnival of Genealogy features some interesting stories by genealogists intrepid enough to admit their mistakes. Thanks to Lee from A Matter of Life and Death for putting together a great carnival!

The The topic of the next Carnival is genealogy gift giving and will be hosted at Jasia's Creative Gene blog. Use your blog to post your wish list or share your creative genealogy gift ideas and submit to the Carnival of Genealogy by December 15th.

I apologize for this delayed response, but I do thank you for the pointer! And for sharing your bloopers too. :-)
