Free Databases at Your Local Library

Thursday March 22, 2007
Your library card could be the key to your past. Before forking over big bucks for subscriptions to online genealogy sites, check to see what databases you may have access to through your local or state library. Quite a few libraries offer free access to genealogy-specific databases such as HeritageQuest Online and Ancestry Library Edition, as well as historical newspapers, obituaries, and other helpful tools for digging into the past.

Salt Lake County Library system has both Heritage Quest and Ancestry library edition. You can use Heritage Quest from home with your library card, but you must be in the library to use Ancestry.
