Genealogy Teleconference Seminars

Monday March 26, 2007
Ancestral Manor has announced a long list of genealogy teleconference seminars on a broad range of genealogy-inspired topics. These conferences - some of them free - are conducted via telephone by experts in the chosen topic. Many teleconference sessions are free. Special sessions, including workshops and consultations, cost $15 per session and include the PDF handout. Recordings for some sessions are also available as MP3 and PDF downloads. Topics range from DNA, Italian research and "Ask the Experts" to Acadian/Cajun Cooking and Disaster Preparedness for Family Historians.

I've attended two of these conferences recently, and they are very well run. A great way to connect with genealogy experts! Some of the free seminars are conducted by experts from for-profit genealogy-related companies, so there is a bit of self-promotion. But I feel it is self-promotion that is very tastefully accomplished with the benefit of free education for all attendees. One caveat - the call is long distance (to Iowa in the U.S.), so you may incur long-distance fees based on your individual phone plan.
