US - Mexico Border Crossings 1903-1957 Added to Ancestry.com

Tuesday May 1, 2007
More than 3.5 million border crossing records from Mexico to the United States have been posted at Ancestry.com. This new collection features an index and digital images of border crossing records created for aliens and some U.S. citizens crossing into the United States at 24 land ports of entry from California to Texas, and provides an important resource for anyone who immigrated to the United States from Mexico. The records contain many insightful clues into a family’s past, such as names and birthdates of travelers, names of friends or family in Mexico or the United States, as well as some signatures. Some even include passport-type photos.

I am more interested in finding the origins of my mother’s surname Samudio. I believe the spelling might have changed from Zamudio about roughly maybe 5 generations back. I don’t have enough information of names except my father was Stephen Samudio from San Antonio.. his father was one of 2 or three brothers who came from Spain and took residence in a town near the Texas boarder. Any information would be highly appreciated.
