Pearl Street Software Merges with MyHeritage
Wednesday August 22, 2007
GenCircles users received an interesting message today from Cliff Shaw, President & CEO of Pearl Street Software (the company that created the popular Family Tree Legends software and the GenCircles family tree submission site). It seems that the company has now merged with MyHeritage.com. The best news for genealogists, is that this merger means that FamilyTree Legends and GenCircles (including the Family Tree Legends Records Collection) will now be 100% free. This is, in part, a response to the competition that sites such as MyHeritage are feeling from upstart sites like Geni.com.

How about a listing of other free genealogy sites?
I think it is wonderful! However, do you think that they will continue to undergo development? How long will MyHeritage support the Pearl Street products? I’ve watched Adobe and Microsoft buy companies only to steal “the good stuff” to add to their own stable and throw the product into the dumpster. I wouldn’t want that to happen here.
Happy Dae.
