I have been reading George Morgan's column for over a dozen years, so I was sad to see his final post this week announcing that "Along Those Lines..." has come to an end. While I can appreciate the economic realities (George has continued to post new articles with no compensation on his personal blog since Ancestry.com discontinued the weekly column in March 2006), I'd like to say personally that I will really miss his writings. He probably doesn't know it, but I've long considered George as a mentor of sorts. Much of his own family research involves rural North Carolina families (like my own), so needless to say I've learned a lot from him over the years. He's also an excellent speaker, so if you ever get the chance to see/hear him at a conference - do so!
George's "Along Those Lines..." blog will remain online through April 2008, so if you haven't read it in a while (or even if you have never visited), now's a good time to rectify the oversight! You'll also still be able to catch his excellent work through the Genealogy Guys Podcast, and in various genealogy books, magazines, and online sites.
