When I set out to make a list of my favorite genealogy blogs, I thought it would be easy. To be honest, the first few were no brainers. But then as I started approaching number 10, the choices got harder. There are just too many well-written, thought-provoking, and entertaining family history blogs! I considered expanding my list to 20, but to be honest the same problem arose. Where to stop? Who to leave out? So instead I chose to stay with 10, highlighting blogs that are each very different from one another - a sampling of sorts. But that doesn't mean there aren't many more "worth reading." You'll find many of my other favorites on my
Genealogy Blog Roll.

Hi Kimberly: Definitely a great line up of blogs / podcasts. I invite you to visit my Genealogy Gems podcast blog at www.genealogygemspodcast.com (I will be celebrating my 40th audio episode and 1 year anniversary in a few weeks
as well as my Genealogy Gems News Blog. I’ve enjoyed a terrific response from readers & listeners this year & would love to have you check us out. The genealogy community is the nicest group of folks ever! Thanks for all you do, Lisa
Good choices Kimberly. Not sure I could come up with a list of just 10 though as there are so many good and interesting writers in the genea-blogosphere!
I am a librarian at Richland County Public Library and I put this blog together to keep my South Carolina patrons up-to-date on resources that are available to help them with their family history searches.
Becky, I absolutely agree that it really isn’t easy (or even fair) to create a list of just 10. But a long blogroll of 50 great genealogy blogs is also very overwhelming to the many family historians who don’t read blogs on a regular basis. Thus the purpose in highlighting 10 blogs…to give people a good place to start, and hopefully bring more readers (and bloggers) into the world of genealogy blogging.
Lisa - don’t worry. Genealogy podcasts are next! And Debbie, I really enjoyed pursuing your library blog - what a great resource for SC genealogists. I grew up in Lexington, so it was especially interesting for me
I’d be happy to add it to my blog roll.

Nice job, Kimberly. There were a few that I had not seen and have since bookmarked them.
I have just re-done my Treasure Maps genealogy site (on-line since 1995) to a blog format. If I had done it sooner, I may have made your list.
