Mikhail Kroutikhin was born on 21 December, 1946 in Moscow, Russia and is married with two children and three grandchildren. His native language is Russian, he is fluent in English and Farsi and he can read and has an oral understanding of French and Arabic. His primary interest is Russian genealogical studies. From Mikhail: "I opened my website, Researching Russian Roots, only when I was perfectly sure that I have got something new to tell the world. And that was the advice on how to start genealogical research in Russia, beefed up by a collection of useful addresses and links. A couple of months after the initial success of that site, I opened a Russian version of it because there had been nothing of the kind in Russia as well. The project has become Russia's genealogical portal in less that a year. Plans exist for its further development but they are hampered by high costs of creating a searchable database and the lack of free time, because I have my principal treadmill job to attend to."
