Queries of the Week

August 8, 2000

I am looking for my 3G Grandfather Charles PROSSER who married a Martha BROWN.  This Charles was born in England and it is believed he settled for a time in Prosser's Brook, NB.  Charles and Martha had a number of children which includes Charles (Jr I suppose, but I don't know for sure).  This Charles was born 16 Jan 1855, in Canada, and married Ida BARRY before moving on to NY State.  Any information on Charles PROSSER would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for what you do.

I'm looking for any information on the family names; Thomas Edward SIMPSON, born on Dec.27, 1887 in Cupar Fife,Scotland. Second child of William Hill SIMPSON and Agnes Helen SANG. Or his wife Agnes KEILTY, born on Sept.12, 1891 in Broxburn, Scotland. First born of John REYNOLDS KEILTY and ESTHER RORY (or PURDIE). There seems to be some question about Esther's last name. John and Esther came over from Scotland to Canada. There is KEILTY family in B.C. Canada Thomas Edward SIMPSON had a sister; Agnes Helen (married name) BAKER-SMITH born 1886. She had two children Stanley and Leslie. Stanley married Margaret, they had 2 sons, Ronnie and Barry. Leslie married Jessie they had a daughter, Penny - all lived in Montreal, Canada. Thomas also had a brother William - I don't have any information on him at all. Agnes SIMPSON's first husband was Donald Angus MacEACHERN an Engineer, from Calgary, Alberta. Donald's mother's name was Flora MacEACHERN. Any information on any of these names would be greatly appreciated.

My name is Heather Bomengen and I am tracing the Surname of BOMENGEN.  I have found certain family members from the late 1700's and up to 1841 through the ancestry world tree. I believe I have found the first BOMENGEN in 1796, Hans Johnson SAND/BOMENGEN, son of John Olsen KROKSTADEJE (born 1765). I also have my family traced back as far as my great grand father, Thorleif BOMENGEN, born April 27, 1885, married to Borghild OLSON, born June 22, 1888.  These relatives are from Norway.  This information has been compiled by another family member and was passed down to me.  I know Thorlief's father's name is Andress BOMENGEN and Mother is Lina.  I don't know their birth dates, but I do know that Andress was a coffin maker.  I would like to find out his date of birth and death and also his parents names.  I am guessing Andress was born between the dates I listed previously.  I would love to be able to link my family together.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have recently found a letter dated  "London 19 May 1792", in an old wooden box engraved with the name Jane.  Mentioned in the letter are Mansfield HIGGINS of Salaph Newport, Rick WILKS, and George Gill PUN.  Also mentioned are places-Pincher Shrewsbury, an Inn (Castle of Falcon Aldero), and Grobs Cyder house on the Upper Thames.  The letter seems to be a bill of sale for an exchange of gold for gunpowder. I would like to find the relatives of the above-mentioned people. I have copies of the letter which can be sent via email or snail mail. Please contact me with any information that would aide in finding these relatives. Thank you.
