Confederate States of America Definition:
An acronym often found on US Civil War era tombstones, CSA usually stands for
the Confederate States of America. The CSA, or Confederate States of America,
was the government set up by the states that withdrew from the United States by
ordinance of secession - beginning the Civil War. The Confederate States of
America governed over the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia,
Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and
Virginia. The Confederate States of America was also referred to as the Confederacy.
