Lineage-Based
Genealogy Software

Definition:
Lineage-based genealogy software links individuals by direct bloodline
descendance. The main screen features a married couple with a list of their
children and then links to other pages for more information on each of the
parents and children. The primary advantage is that you can see an entire family
group at a glance. The major disadvantage is that with so many people on the
screen at once, only a limited amount of information can be displayed at a time
(it is stored elsewhere to be called up as needed). Pronunciation:
[lin-ee-ij
based jee-nee-ol-uh-jee soft-wair]
(noun)
