Welcome to Introduction to Genealogy, the very first class offered in the Let's Learn Genealogy forum. I'm looking forward to the next six weeks, in which new concepts, techniques and ideas will hopefully get you started well on your way to a fulfilling lifetime of tracing your family tree. I hope you'll also be able to learn from one another, as we post comments, questions and answers in an effort to demystify genealogy.
This page serves as the gateway page for the class. It contains information on how the course is set up and an outline of what you can expect to learn. A new lesson will be rolled out each week and will be linked from this page as it becomes available. Please bookmark this page and check back weekly for new lessons. Hi! I'm Kimberly Powell!
In addition to being the Genealogy Guide for this site, I am also the
instructor for this class. I have been researching my family history for almost 20 years
and I definitely fall under the addicted category :-) I love to teach
people new things, and it is even better when it is something as fun as

Who Are You?
I'd like to know about each of you as well. Although the classroom is primarily
reserved for lessons, comments and questions about genealogy, please feel free
to tell me (and your classmates) something about yourself by replying to the
Welcome and Introductions post. If you would like to discuss non-course related
topics, feel free to do so in the 'Lounge' topic. Anything is fair game as long
as it follows our rules and regulations. If you have a question
about your specific ancestors or research situation, please post them in our
main Genealogy
