The Bottom Line -
Cryptic Clues in the Bone Yard is a "must see" for any family
history buff who plans to spend time researching in the cemetery. The
video is full of enough fascinating trivia to educate more advanced
researchers, while also including many tips and suggestions for
beginners. The "hands-on" demonstrations, showing a variety of methods
for safely preserving tombstone inscriptions, are alone worth the
$14.95 cost of the video.

Do it Right the First Time
Spare yourself the time and frustration of a return visit to the cemetery
with Cryptic Clues in the Bone Yard, a genealogy training video
narrated by genealogist Sharon DeBartolo Carmack and produced by
123Genealogy. Shot on location in the cemetery, this lively video
presentation discusses many overlooked clues in cemetery research
and gives "hands-on" demonstrations for preserving tombstone inscriptions
via photographs and rubbings. A "cemetery toolkit" checklist helps to
ensure that you don't leave home without the necessary supplies. You
unfortunately can't take the video to the cemetery with you, however, so
an accompanying print summary of the important points would have made a
nice addition. It is also not currently available in PAL format, so those
of you in Europe and Australia are, unfortunately, out of luck.
