Comments: Birth
records in Maryland are restricted for 100 years after the date of
birth and are available from the Division of Vital Records only to the
person registered; the parent or guardian of the person registered; or a
legal representative (with notarized statement from the person registered).
If authorized to obtain a birth record, provide the full name at birth,
date of birth, place of birth (County or City), mother’s full maiden
name, father’s full name, your relationship to the person named on the
record and your name and mailing address.
The Maryland
State Archives will provide copies of birth certificates for
genealogical purposes, but you must submit proof of the individual's death
such as a death certificate, funeral card or obituary notice. If you do
not have proof of death, or if the person is still alive, the Archives
will send you an extract of the information on the certificate. An extract
includes the certificate number, the registrant's (child's) name, the date
and place of birth and the names and birthplaces of the parents.

records in Maryland are restricted for 10 years after the date of date
and are available from the Division of Vital Records only to surviving
relatives or an authorized representative of the estate. If authorized to
obtain a death record, provide the full name at death, date of death,
place of death (County or City), your relationship to the person named on
the record and your name and mailing address.
The Maryland
State Archives has copies of death records for Baltimore City
(1875-1987) and Maryland counties (1898-1987), but their indexes for
Baltimore City end in 1972 and for the counties in 1968. They will not search
for any death records for periods when they do not have indexes unless you
provide an exact date and place of death. The Archives is not able
to provide copies of death certificates filed after 1987 (for
those, please contact the Division of Vital Records)

Comments: The
Maryland Division of Vital Records can only provide copies of marriage
records from 1973 to the present. Please provide with your request the
groom's full name, the bride's full maiden name, the date and place of
marriage and your name and mailing address. Marriage records are only
available to the persons named on the certificate or an authorized
representative. For marriage records prior to 1973 you can contact the Clerk
of Circuit Court in the county in which the marriage occurred or the
Maryland
State Archives. For licenses issued in the City of Baltimore,
contact the Clerk of Court of Common Pleas of Baltimore City.

Certified
copies of divorce records are not available from the State Division of Vital
Records, though they are able to verify divorces from January 1961.
Certified copies of divorce decrees should be available from the Clerk
of Circuit Court
