Event: Birth

Dates: From January 1910

Cost of copy: $10.00 (includes a 5-year search)

Comments:  With your request include the full name on the certificate, the full date of birth (month, day, year), place of birth (city or county), father's full name, mother's full name (including maiden name), your relationship to the person named on the certificate (you need to be an immediate family member or legal representative) and the reason for your request. Certified copies of most Missouri birth records are also available from local county health departments or the St. Louis City Health Department or Kansas City Health Department.  For details, please contact these offices directly. 

* For births occurring between July 1, 1883 - 1893, contact the Missouri State Archives. If the death occurred in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, or Kansas City before 1910, write to the city or county Health Department. Copies of these records are $10.00 each in St. Louis City and St. Louis County. In Kansas City, the fee is $6.00 for the first copy and $3.00 for each additional copy ordered at same time.  Computer issued copies containing the state certification are $10.00 each.

Comments: The Bureau of Vital Records can provide a certified statement for marriages which have occurred in Missouri from July 1, 1948 to the present. Telephone verifications are not provided, though you can call with a credit card and they will send out the verification by mail within 24 hours. Information prior to this date may be obtained for marriages from the Recorder of Deeds of the county that issued the license.

* To obtain a certified copy of the actual license you will need to contact the Recorder of Deeds in the county where the marriage took place.


Event: Divorce

Dates: From July 1, 1948

Cost of copy: $10.00

Comments: The Bureau of Vital Records can provide certified statements of dissolution of marriage which have occurred in Missouri from July 1, 1948 to the present. Telephone verifications are not provided, though you can call with a credit card and they will send out the verification by mail within 24 hours. Information prior to this date may be ob tained for dissolution of marriages from the Circuit Clerk of the county that issued the decree.

* To obtain a certified copy of the actual license you will need to contact the Circuit Clerk's office for the county which issued the divorce decree.
