Event: Birth

Dates: From 1903

Cost of copy: $11.00

Comments: Copies of birth certificates are confidential under Texas Law for fifty years and are only available from that period to the registrant, immediate family members either by blood or marriage, guardians or legal representatives. With your request include as much as you can of the following: the name on the birth record being requested, date of birth, place of birth (city or county), father's full name, (last, first, middle), mothers full name, including her maiden name, your relationship to the individual named on the certificate, the reason for your request, your daytime telephone number with area code, your mailing address, your signature and a copy of a photo ID such as a Driver's License. Birth records were not required to be forwarded to the State until 1910, so some birth records from 1903-1910 may be found at the County Clerk's Office in the county where the birth took place.

Event: Death

Dates: From 1903

Cost of copy: $9.00

Comments: Copies of death records are confidential under Texas Law for twenty-five years and are only available from that period to immediate family members either by blood or marriage, guardians or legal representatives. With your request include as much as you can of the following: the name on the death record being requested, date of death, place of death (city or county), your relationship to the individual named on the certificate, the reason for your request, your daytime telephone number with area code, your mailing address, your signature and a copy of a photo ID such as a Driver's License. Death records were not required to be forwarded to the State until 1910, so some death records from 1903-1910 may be found at the County Clerk's Office in the county where the birth took place.

Event: Marriage

Dates: From January 1, 1966 (State); 

Cost of copy: $9.00

Comments: Verification of Marriage is available at the Texas Department of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistics but they can only verify that a marriage took place and/or identify the county of occurrence. Certified copies of the Marriage License are only available from the County Clerk's Office in the county in which the marriage occurred.

Event: Divorce

Dates: From July 1905

Comments: Verification of Divorce is available at the Texas Department of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistics but they can only verify that a divorce took place and/or identify the county of occurrence. Certified copies of the Divorce Decree are only available from the District Clerk's Office in the county in which the divorce occurred.
