The outstanding FamilySearch Web site has now been made even better with the recent introduction of several new wonderful research tools, Research Guidance, Research Helps, and a Glossary. These genealogy research aids are especially useful when you can't find the information you are looking for online, when you need to learn more about how to conduct family history research within a specific geographic area and when you need help in determining which records to search. Here's the scoop on what these tools can do for you, with step-by-step instructions on how to make the most of them in your genealogy research!

 

Research Guidance 
Research Guidance is a brand-new research aid helps you find the best records to search to find information about your ancestor. It is a wonderful resource for newcomers to genealogy as well as to anyone who finds themselves a little overwhelmed by the vast amounts of data available through Family History Centers. Research Guidance will help you in your search by:

Listing the best records to use for your particular search

Recommending an order for searching the records

Providing step-by-step instructions for using the records

Suggesting where copies of the records may be located

You can find the new Research Guidance tool at http://www.familysearch.org, Once there, click on the Custom Search tab and then select Research Guidance.
