Best State/Provincial Genealogical Society - Readers' Choice Awards 2013

Winners and Finalists

By

A large number of genealogical societies have re-invented themselves in recent years, embracing social media, virtual education, digital publishing, and other tools to reach a far-flung audience. As you might expect, with so many great state and provincial genealogical societies, a large number of nominations were received for a variety of genealogical societies around the world. Most were applauded for their friendly members, great programs and resources, and even their Facebook groups. So many wonderful societies were nominated that did not make the list of five finalists...I wish I could recognize them all. If you have found your local genealogical society a great resource, please take some time out soon to say thank you. Or, better yet, get involved!

Voting among the five finalists took place from February 19 through March 19, 2013, with winners announced on March 27, 2013. The polls were audited and validated by the About.com tech team to produce the final results. The prize? Bragging rights that come with recognition by readers of one of the most popular networks on the Web.
