Check or money order should be made payable to Office of Vital Statistics. Personal checks are accepted. Call to verify current fees. A copy of your drivers license or other official valid photo identification is required.

Birth Records:

Dates: From 1933 (state), from 1913 (archives)

Cost of copy: $10.00

Comments: With your request, include as much as you can of the following: the full name of the person listed on the certificate, date of birth, place of birth, full name of father, full maiden name of mother, your relationship to the person whose certificate you are requesting, the reason for your request, your address and signature. For earlier Delaware birth records (back to 1913), contact the Delaware Public Archives.

Death Records:

Dates: From 1965 (state), from 1913 (archives)

Cost of copy: $10.00

Comments: With your request, include as much as you can of the following: the full legal name of the deceased; the date of death; the county; sex; date of birth or age at death; race; name of spouse; name of parents; the reason why you are requesting the record; and your relationship to the person named on the death certificate. For earlier Delaware death records (back to 1913), contact the Delaware Public Archives.

Marriage Records:

Dates: From 1965 (state), from 1913 (archives)

Divorce Records:

Dates: From 1935

Cost of copy: $10.00

Comments: Inquiries will be forwarded to appropriate office. Certified copies are not available from State office.

Divorce records in Delaware can also be obtained from the office of the prothonotary in the county where divorce was granted up to 1975. For divorces granted after 1975 the parties concerned should contact Family Court in county where the divorce was granted.
