My Most Wanted Ancestor

My great-grandfather, on my mother's side. This family history starts in a little town called Cottonport, Louisiana. Based on the US Ferderal Census and a WWI draft registration card of one of his sons, my Great Grandfather was from Evergreen, La. His name was Banks (Tolbert ,we think) Wells. Born May 1872. The wall we have been hitting is the name of his parents. My mother, who's 81 now was not yet born when he was said to have died in 1911. It is said that his parents names were Jim and Tabby. I can't verify that. Banks Wells was characterized as black and Stella, his spouse as mulatto. Help me break that wall!
