My Most Wanted Ancestor

My great great aunt, Selina Kavanagh, was married in Manhattan in February 1906 to William Purcell. Both Selina and William were from Ireland. Selina was born in Dublin and went to France to become a nanny. The next I know she lands in New York. I don't know how or why she went to America.

Research & Records

I found their marriage on the Morman website. As I live in Dublin, Ireland I have very limited resources online. I'd love to know if they stayed in America and where they lived. According to their marriage certificate, William was a court stenographer (according to what my grandmother said, it was thought he was a diamond merchant!!)

Advice

  • She got married again in London in 1916 so what happened to her first husband. Did he die or were they divorced? I don't even know if they stayed in America after they were married. I would love to find out more!!
