Capturing Memories
Saturday September 20, 2008
Locating and preserving old photographs of our ancestors is a big part of genealogy research - we use them to ask questions of our relatives, examine them for every little clue they may reveal, and even display them proudly on our wall. But photography is also about creating great photographs for future generations, and sharing the photographs of our past and present with our living relatives. To nurture the needs of genealogists, past, present and future, genealogist and photograph expert Maureen Taylor wrote a wonderful little book titled Capturing Memories: Your Family Story in Photographs. Now, I love photography and practice quite a bit - taking pictures of my children, and stopping in every interesting old cemetery that I pass on the road. But this book has still given me several new ideas that I can't wait to try!
