The New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS) and the Connecticut Society of Genealogists (CSG) announced today that the first phase of bringing the CSG's flagship genealogical journal, The Connecticut Nutmegger, online as a searchable database has been completed. The new database will be available to members on both organization's Web sites. The release this week includes volumes 1-6, which covers the years 1968 through 1973. Additional sets of five volumes will be added periodically throughout the coming year.

The Connecticut Nutmegger, which has served as the "journal of record" for the CSG since 1968, includes a wealth of information for genealogists: transcribed vital records, probate records, bible records and headstone records, long with well-documented family histories and genealogical articles. The primary focus, of course, is families with Connecticut ties.

The new Nutmegger database, available only to subscribing members of NEHGS and CGS, allows searching by last and/or first name, as well as subject keywords. Images of the original pages can be accessed from the search results page. Alternatively, you can browse the pages by entering a year or volume number, and a page number. The first installment of five years of The Connecticut Nutmegger indexes 12, 347 names and 477 subject records.
