Experience

Kimberly Powell is a professional genealogist and the author of The Everything Guide to Online Genealogy. In 2013, Kimberly won the Silver Tray for Excellence in Genealogical Publishing for her ThoughtCo contributions. Kimberly has also contributed to several popular genealogy magazines, including BBC's Who Do You Think You Are?, Family Tree Magazine, and the Association of Professional Genealogists Quarterly.

Kimberly teaches genealogy at the Genealogical Research Institute of Pittsburgh, Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy, and the Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research. She is a former president of the Association of Professional Genealogists and a member of the National Genealogical Society and International Society of Family History Writers and Editors. 

Education

Kimberly Powell holds a ​Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University's Center for Professional Education. She received a B.A. from Carnegie Mellon University.
