David L. Mishkin, is the president of Just
Black & White (JB&W) in Portland, Maine established in 1983.
JB&W is a custom photographic processing lab that specializes in
copying and restoring historic and family photographs. It is one
of the only labs in the U.S. that can provide enhancements from faded
originals as well as providing archivally processed copy negatives.
Clients include many museums and historical societies through out the
United States. Mr. Mishkin graduated from Rochester Institute of
Technology in 1969 with a B.S. degree in photography.
He is a member of the Genealogical Speakers Guild and presents a lecture
and slide show on "The Care and Preservation of Family Photographs
and Documents" and "Preservation of Modern Imaging
Methods". This lecture and slide show has been presented to
genealogists and museums from Boston to San Francisco. As the Vice
President of "New England Regional Genealogical Conference" he
has helped organize several regional and national genealogical
conferences. Mr Mishkin has also had several articles
published in various photographic magazines as well as Heritage Quest,
NEXUS, Genealogical Helper and Family Chronicle and Family Tree
Magazine.
