Welcome to Introduction to Genealogy, the very first class offered in the Let's Learn Genealogy forum. This is a self-paced, four-lesson class packed full of new concepts, techniques and ideas which will hopefully get you started on your way to a fulfilling lifetime of tracing your family tree. I hope you'll also be able to learn from one another in the classroom forum, as we post comments, questions and answers in an effort to demystify genealogy.

Hi! I'm Kimberly Powell
In addition to being the Genealogy Guide for this site, I am also the instructor for this class. I have been researching my family history for over 25 years and I definitely fall under the addicted category :-) I love to teach people new things, and it is even better when it is something as fun as genealogy! Who Are You?
I'd like to know about each of you as well. Although the classroom is primarily reserved for lessons, comments and questions about genealogy, please feel free to tell me (and your classmates) something about yourself by replying to the Welcome and Introductions post. If you would like to discuss non-course related topics, feel free to do so in the 'Lounge' topic. Anything is fair game as long as it follows our rules and regulations. Another good place to ask questions about your specific ancestors or research situation, especially once you have completed the class, is our main Genealogy Forum where there are a great group of genealogy addicts always willing to help you out!
