Guide Picks - Top 5 Books for Mayflower Enthusiasts
An estimated 30 million people are descended from the Pilgrims who came to America on the Mayflower on 11 November, 1620. Of the many published resources available to people researching the history of these Pilgrims or their descent from one of the Mayflower passengers, here are five of the best.
1) Mayflower Families Series
The Mayflower Families series of books published by the General Society of Mayflower Descendants are considered by many to be the best genealogy books related to the Mayflower passengers and their families ever published. They follow the descent of all Mayflower passengers through at least five generations and include full source citations.

2) Genealogies of Mayflower Families
This three-volume set published in 1995 contains the complete collection of articles from The New England Historical and Genealogical Register devoted to Mayflower passengers and their descendants. This represents the most comprehensive collection of writings of the foremost Mayflower scholars of the 19th and 20th centuries.

3) Mayflower Increasings
Based on the previous published work of John Landis - the 1922 Mayflower Descendants - this book by Susan Roser revises and expands the original 37 paged booklet of Mayflower passengers and their descent for the first three generations in America, including names, dates, places, spouses, children, etc.

4) Mayflower Marriages
A compilation of 10,000 Mayflower marriages spanning five centuries, including names, dates and sources, extracted from the files of George Ernest Bowman, a highly-respected Mayflower researcher.

5) Plymouth Colony: Its History and People
Anyone researching the pilgrims of Plymouth Colony should read this book cover to cover. Considered by many to be the best book available on the lives of the Plymouth colonists, Plymouth Colony provides an excellent narrative of the events of the first 70 years at Plymouth, and detailed biographical sketches of many of the Pilgrims.
